IDAHO NOTES

This is the first of my Idaho Notes, written in October 2019 shortly after I moved here from North Carolina. I will retrieve those written since and post them.

Idaho Notes: I will try to make this brief..well, sort of! My furnishings have arrived, and I am busy getting organized in a space that seems to require more adjustments than I had thought. But, I’m slowly getting there!

Things I like about Idaho. I am an early riser, and the Idaho sky where I live is dark so I get to see so many stars — Orion watches over me protectively, and Cassiopeia lets me admire all of the sisters. Some say if I get up in the middle of the night I will be able to see the Milky Way! The early morning walk with Wibbley has an unusual comfort and enormous wonder! What a way to start the day.

Everything here is so clean! Maybe that is because there are few big trees to litter the sidewalks and streets with stray leaves and acorns and blown down twigs. Or, maybe I am living in a high desert disguised as a town with mown green lawns? Not so sure about that.

There is a Sunday brunch for LGBTQ people at a nearby Perkins Restaurant. I went last week and met some new people and left feeling reassured that there my tribe is here too. I’m not ready to start work yet but am approved by Blue Cross and soon will have an office set up in my home. I have reservations about working at home but…we’ll see.

So, in week two I am on my way. Naturally I miss my Charlotte people and the familiarity of a city I love. So far, no regrets about coming out this way. More to come later!
